LEVEL: Any
TIME: 20 minutes
PURPOSE: Writing, Reading, Speaking, Listening
PREPARATION + MATERIALS:
- 1 sheet of white paper + writing instrument per student
- Scissors
GOAL: Write sentences and return sentences to their writer
ACTIVITY:
Every student gets a sheet of paper. Not required, but you can fold the paper into 8 horizontal parts to act as cutting lines/break the paper into sections.
In each section, students write a sentence about themselves. For constraints or specific grammar practice, you can specify that.
Example (A1):
I am from California.
I like reading books and watching movies.
Yesterday, I was at the mall.
I want to eat a cake.
(etc)
When complete, collect the papers, cut them into strips, and put them in a bag. Each student them selected 8 strips from the bag.
Originally, I had wanted students to walk around and return the strips, but my class somewhat decided this route: One person read a strip to the class. The person the strip belong to claimed it, then read one of their own strips. It bounced around like a hot potato until all the strips were returned.
